DESCRIPTION:

Length: 130mm. Sexes alike. Bill black; iris dark brown; upper parts of head grey with centre of feathers blackish, posterior part of crown and nape also blackish; supercilium grey; auriculars black; neck grey. Upper and lower back olivaceous brown; rump whitish; uppertail coverts very dark brown; rectrices blackish; breast and flanks grey with soft yellowish white streaks; belly and undertail coverts yellowish; lesser wing coverts as back; median and greater coverts blackish brown with broad cinnamon margins; tertiaries and secondaries likewise; primary remiges dark brown.
Legs black Average weight: 13g. Habitat and behaviour: it inhabits the subantarctic forest, mainly the dense canopies of trees such as Maitén (Maitenus sp.) and woodland near the water or very wet areas. It is found in solitary pairs or several scattered couples that communicate with a long high-pitched whistle, somewhat sad and weak. It feeds on insects captured in the foliage. The nest, built low among the vegetation, is cup-shaped; clutch size: up to three white eggs, faintly speckled reddish. Range: distribution ranges from Neuquén to Tierra del Fuego, in the narrow stretch of the Andean beech woods.
